UGBS 102 — Session 2 Prep Test: The Internet

This prep test covers UGBS 102 Introduction to Computing, Session 2: The Internet for University of Ghana Distance Education students. The questions are set at a standard computing-exam level: scenarios, best-answer and "which is NOT" questions.

Topics: the evolution of the Internet (ARPANET, NSFnet, Internet2, W3C), broadband connections, access providers, IP addresses, domain names and DNS, the World Wide Web, browsers, URLs, search engines and subject directories, types of websites, multimedia on the Web, plug-ins, web publishing, e-commerce, e-mail, mailing lists, instant messaging, chat, VoIP, newsgroups, message boards, FTP and netiquette.

• Section A: 35 multiple-choice questions (1 mark each)
• Section B: 10 true-or-false questions (1 mark each)
• Section C: 5 fill-in-the-blank questions (1 mark each)

Total: 50 marks · 30 minutes · pass mark 60% · up to 10 attempts. After each attempt you see the correct answers, a short explanation and the slide page to revise.
