University of Ghana students can apply for two exchange placements at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, Japan, with tuition waived and possible JASSO scholarship support.

University of Ghana Students Can Apply for Exchange Programme in Japan with Tuition Waiver

The International Programmes Office of the University of Ghana (UG) has announced an opportunity for two University of Ghana students to participate in an exchange programme at the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (TUFS), Japan.

The exchange will take place during the Spring Semester, from April to August 2027, as part of the 2026/2027 academic year.

The opportunity is a self-sponsored exchange programme, but successful students will benefit from a tuition fee waiver and may also be eligible to apply for the JASSO Scholarship Programme.

Tokyo University of Foreign Studies Exchange Programme

The exchange opportunity is available to two University of Ghana students interested in studying at the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies in Japan.

Students can review detailed information about the available programmes and courses before applying.

The exchange opportunity covers the following academic areas:

However, selected students will have their tuition fees waived under the exchange arrangement.

Students may also be eligible to apply for the JASSO Scholarship Programme, which can provide additional financial support subject to the relevant scholarship requirements and selection process.

Applicants should therefore distinguish between the tuition waiver and any separate scholarship support when planning their finances.

Students should also make adequate financial arrangements for expenses that are not covered by the exchange arrangement.

Interested University of Ghana students are required to submit the following documents:

1. Letter of Motivation

Applicants must submit a well-written letter of motivation explaining their interest in the exchange programme and their academic objectives.

2. Passport Details Page

Applicants must provide a copy of the details page of their passport.

The passport must have an expiration date beyond December 2028.

3. Recommendation Letter

The recommendation letter should be no more than one page and should include the relevant email address or addresses.

4. Original Academic Transcript

Applicants must submit their original academic transcript from the Academic Affairs Directorate.

5. Proof of English Proficiency

Students must provide a proof of proficiency in English letter.

The letter should be requested from the University of Ghana Language Centre, using the academic transcript as a supporting document.
